American Bar Association Task Force for American Democracy Chairs

LEADERSHIP

Co-Chaired by Judge J. Michael Luttig and Secretary Jeh Johnson, and with Vice Chair William Ide, III, The national Task Force for American Democracy was formed by American Bar Association President Mary L. Smith in 2023 to encourage local action by legal professionals to ensure an enduring American Democracy.

With its strong bipartisan leadership, the ABA and the task force have already made an impact by bringing important conversations  to key regions across the country. These conversations about issues like ensuring trust in elections and improving civic dialogue are leading to meaningful, long-term, collaborative hard-work between legal professionals and partners who share a commitment to upholding the rule of law and strengthening our democracy.

Task force members and advisors include nationally renown bipartisan legal, business, and civic leaders who share the commitment to preserving the rule of law and democracy through grassroots activism.
